The child of one of Mayor Vincent Gray's officials has resigned from his District government job.

Brandon Webb, son of Employment Services Director Rochelle Webb, submitted his resignation this week effective March 25.

Brandon Webb is working in the public affairs office of D.C. Fire and EMS, earning $65,000 a year. He was hired Jan. 31.

Brandon Webb is one of several adult children of Gray appointees who found jobs in the administration.

According to a list of new hires by Gray's administration uncovered by WAMU's Patrick Madden, the daughter of Gray Campaign Chair Lorraine Green and the son of Gray's chief of staff, Gerri Mason Hall, were hired in January to work for the District government. The son of the mayor's communications director, Linda Wharton Boyd, also took a job with the city. Both have also resigned, according to Cheh's draft report.

Brandon Webb is said to be a nice guy and more than competent, but controversy over family hires led to his resignation.
