Mayor Adrian Fenty and several reporters got into a heated debate Thursday about the mayor's sons' elementary school.

After declining to answer a question Thursday morning on NBC4 about whether he followed all the rules and received no special favors when he enrolled his twin sons in the sought-after Lafayette Elementary School for this school year, several reporters confronted the mayor at another event and tried again.

And again.

And again.

Fenty refused to budge, telling WTOP's Mark Segraves, City Paper's Mike DeBonis and NBC4's Tom Sherwood to stop asking him questions about his kids. The reporters insisted their questions were about the process, and not about his kids.

After about five minutes of verbal back-and-forth, the two sides agreed to disagree and move on.

Watch the video of the sparring here.

And here is DeBonis' account of the meeting.
