Now that Jim Zorn has some free time on his hands, perhaps he should consider a run for political office.
Hey, it worked for his buddy Steve Largent. And it seems like the thing to do if you're a former Redskins employee. We all know about Heath Shuler's foray into politics, which has actually gone much better than his NFL career did -- i.e., he's actually won something. Shuler has been a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District) since 2006 and is up for re-election again in 2010.
But it seems that Shuler isn't' the only ex-Skin who has the political fever. Just this week former Redskins tight end (and two-time Super Bowl champion) Clint Didier threw his hat into the ring for a Senate seat in Washington state.
Didier says on his Web site that he's "not a practiced politician," so it's unsure just how far his campaign can go. Instead of shaking hands and kissing babies after his football career ended, he has been farming and leading a dirt-moving business.
But he does know his way around the District after all those years playing here. And he's made quick work to get a football analogy into his campaign slogan: "Clint Didier: A Game Plan for Washington."
Hey, Zorn could have used one of those during his tenure in D.C....
