Absentee Ballots Now Available in Virginia

Deadline to vote absentee is Oct. 31

Virginia election officials are gearing up for the start of absentee voting.

Ballots will be available in all 134 localities beginning Friday.

Voters who will be away from home or are unable to go to the polls on Election Day (Nov. 3) can apply for absentee ballots.

New legislation also qualifies law-enforcement officers, firefighters, search and rescue personnel or emergency medical services personnel.

The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot by mail or e-mail is 5 p.m. on Oct. 27.

The deadline to vote absentee-in-person is Oct. 31.
