State Sen. Wendy Davis Raises $12 Million for Gubernatorial Race

Fort Worth Democrat Wendy Davis says she has raised more than $12 million in her bid to become Texas governor.

The state senator released her fundraising totals on Tuesday, one day before required by law.

Davis has raised about $11 million in the last six months, between her senate account, her gubernatorial account and a political action committee formed with Battleground Texas. That group was formed to boost Democratic chances in Texas.

Her likely opponent, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, said he had raised more than $11.5 million in his bid to become governor.

Abbott's campaign reported Tuesday that they had $27 million in cash on hand for their likely race against Davis.
