Sen. Ted Cruz made a stop in Dallas Tuesday night to host a town hall where he shared his plan to defund President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act.

The town hall at Dallas' Hilton Anatole was part of a cross-country tour sponsored in part by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank. Dallas is one of nine cities on the bus tour.

The first-term senator has been vocal in Washington about gutting all government funding for the president's signature health care law, saying it will hurt Americans and the economy.

Cruz was on stage for 24-minutes and ended his speech by asking the audience several questions, including "Can we defund Obamacare?" The audience answered each question with Obama's signature saying, "Yes we can."

Twice during the night people who shouted at Cruz during his speech were escorted from the venue.

At the same time as the event at the Anatole, Democrats were just across the street holding a health care seminar of their own talking about how the new health care law should help Americans. It is sponsored by Americans United for Change, a group of pro-health reform advocates.

Meanwhile, Cruz said he has nothing against Canada, but he's renouncing his citizenship from that country. Cruz issued a statement after releasing a birth certificate showing he was born in Calgary. Cruz maintains he was an American citizen at birth because his mother is American.
