In the wake of a five-minute rant to reporters last week, "Pharma bro" Martin Shkreli was ordered Wednesday to stop publicly discussing his ongoing securities fraud trial near the Brooklyn courthouse where his trial is being held, CNBC reported.

Judge Kiyo Matsumoto said Shkreli's comments to the media left her shocked. "There's a great risk jurors will be exposed," she said.

Shkreli is on trial for allegedly looting of millions of dollars from a publicly traded drug company he founded. Shkreli told reporters last week that he never considered a plea deal, but prosecutors, who sought the gag order, disclosed Wednesday that in fact Shkreli's defense team approached prosecutors several times about a possible guilty plea to avoid going to trial.

"It is of utmost importance to us that we avoid the circus-like atmosphere that we have discussed," Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacquelyn Kasulis told the judge.
