Police are looking for a Norman Rockwell painting that went missing from a Queens storage unit less than six months after it was sold at auction for more than $1 million.
The 22-by-28-inch painting, which the New York Post reports was sold by a private collection in Birmingham, Ala., depicts a man wearing a yellow rain jacket holding a fishing pole in a rowboat.
The painting, titled "SPORT," was painted in 1939 and is signed by Rockwell.
The painting was the cover of an edition of the Saturday Evening Post, and the magazine's logo appears behind the fisherman's head in the painting.
According to the Post, the painting sold for $1,085,000 at Sotheby's on May 22.
If you know anything about the painting, call Crimestoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
