Texas Mom: ‘Nightmare' Truck Attack Killed Husband, Son in Nice

Kim Copeland said she's thankful for the tributes and and support the family received and she appreciates the time she spent in France with her family

A Texas mother said her family's dream vacation in France turned into "a nightmare" when a man driving a box truck plowed through a crowd gathered to watch fireworks celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, killing 84, including her husband and their 11-year-old son.

"All of a sudden, I hear my husband scream, 'Watch out!' and I look up and see a big white truck headed straight toward us," Kim Copeland said in an interview that aired on NBC's "Today" show Thursday.

Copeland's husband, Sean, ran over to their son Brodie. By the time Kim Copeland made it to her son, "I knew that he was gone" she said. Her husband lived a few hours longer, the entire time asking about Brodie.

Copeland said she's thankful for the tributes and and support the family has received and she appreciates the time she spent in France with her son, husband and Sean Copeland's two adult children.

"I don't regret going on our family vacation together because we had the most amazing days and minutes together as a family of five that I wouldn't take back," she said.
