Man Killed in Tesla ‘Autopilot' Mode Received Warnings

A former Navy Seal who died while using the semi-autonomous driving system on his Tesla Model S sedan did not take hold of the steering wheel despite repeated automated warnings, according to a report by the U.S. government.

CNBC reports that the National Transportation Safety Board released information Monday in the May 2016 death of Joshua Brown near Williston, Fla. Brown's Tesla collided with a truck while using the "Autopilot" mode.

A report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found no evidence of defects with the vehicle in January. Brown's family has not taken legal action against Tesla.
