Man's Decomposing Body Found Under Pile of Cement, Clothes in Jersey City Apartment

The man died in his apartment on Corbin Avenue

The decomposing body of a 66-year-old man was found in his New Jersey apartment, with hardened cement and clothing piled on top of him, authorities said.

Firefighters responded to his apartment on Corbin Avenue Tuesday after a report of a foul odor, and found him dead in the bedroom, with the suspicious items.

It was not clear how long he had been dead.

The death is being considered suspicious, but the cause is not known.

His name was not released.

Neighbors said the victim had lived in his apartment for over 20 years and that his life and health took a downward spiral when his wife was struck and killed by a car 15 years ago. The last time anyone could recall seeing the victim was in July when his stepson brought him home from a local rehabilitation center.
