A 75-year-old woman was attacked and choked with a metal dog leash while out on a walk with her dog in Palm Harbor, Florida, police said.

The victim was walking her dog Gizmo when she encountered Emmanuel Qosaj, 20, walking a dog with his girlfriend last Thursday.

Qosaj then attacked the woman, who said the incident was unprovoked.

“I can’t believe I’m alive because when that chain went around my neck, I had no chance,” the woman, who asked not to be identified, told NBC 6. “I was accepting the fact I was going to die right then.”

A Huntington Beach man has set a record for most consecutive visits to Disneyland. Jeff Reitz, 44, has visited the park 2,000 times in a row. Reitz started visiting the park every day when he was unemployed and wanted to keep his spirits up. Employed at the VA now, Reitz continues to visit every day after work because it helps him to decompress after a long day. His favorite ride is the Matterhorn Bobsleds, which he first rode with his mom when he was 2 years old.

Witnesses tried to intervene but Qosaj pushed them away, NBC affiliate WFLA reported.

Police officers nearby heard her scream and responded to the scene.

The victim sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to Mease-Countryside Hospital for treatment, WFLA reported. Qosaj was also taken to the same hospital for evaluation.

The woman's daughter told WFLA that as the attacker slammed the victim's head to the ground, he said, "I'm going to kill you, I'm going to kill you."

Qosaj's brothers told WFLA that he had been "acting really weird," and they had no explanation for the attack.

Qosaj was arrested and charged with attempted murder. He has since bonded out of jail and the victim says she fears he may hurt her again.
