Iris the Chimpanzee Finds Love and Comfort at New Sanctuary

Three weeks ago, Save the Chimps in Fort Greene, Florida, took in Iris, a female chimp, after PETA investigated into Iris' treatment at the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve and Zoo in Dahlonega. Allegedly, she had been kept alone in a small, dark room for the last three years. Iris the chimpanzee is now happy and in love with Abdul, an older male chimp at the lush Florida sanctuary for chimps. "She loves Abdul. She's clearly a chimp's chimp. She does not pay much attention to humans," said sanctuary director Jen Feuerstein. Read »
