Decision time is up for Scots. Polls closed Thursday night in Scotland's independence referendum — a vote that will decide whether Scotland splits from the United Kingdom after a union more than three centuries old. Polling stations were bustling right up until the close of voting at 10 p.m. local time (5 p.m. ET). The final result isn't expected until after 5 a.m. on Friday local time (midnight ET). "America’s War Too": Ukraine's Poroshenko Asks for Help

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko urged Congress Thursday to provide more help to fight pro-Russia separatists who have taken over eastern parts of the country, saying the insurgency is not just an assault on Ukraine but all of the free world, NBC News reported. “The war that these men are fighting is not only Ukraine’s war,” Poroshenko said. “It is Europe’s, and it is America’s war too. It is a war of the free world, and for the free world.” He is also scheduled to visit President Obama in the Oval Office in a meeting the White House says will send a message to Russia that the U.S. stands firmly with Ukraine.
