Convicted murderer Joseph Wood died while his attorney and an Arizona judge were in the middle of an emergency phone hearing trying to decide whether or not stopping his execution would cause him more pain. The emergency hearing was prompted by the fact that Wood was still "gasping, snorting, and unable to breathe and not dying" well into his execution, his lawyer said. Wreckage Found After Jet Carrying 116 Vanishes

Wreckage from a commercial jetliner carrying 116 people, including 50 from France, that disappeared over west Africa has been found in Mali, NBC News reported. Algeria-bound Air Algerie Flight AH5017 vanished from radar about 50 minutes after it took off from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, according to the Algerian Press Service. Burkina Faso's Transport Minister Jean Bertin Ouedraogo told reporters its pilots had asked to change route about 21 minutes after takeoff after reporting heavy rains. Conflicting reports had earlier emerged mid-morning when an airport official told NBC News that the wreckage was located earlier, a claim the French president debunked when he spoke to reporters.
