Captain of Doomed Germanwings Plane Identified

The captain of the Germanwings plane that crashed earlier this week, apparently at the hands of a co-pilot, was identified Saturday as Patrick Sonderheimer, sources confirmed to NBC News. Little else was immediately known about him. Sonderheimer's 27-year-old co-pilot locked him out of Germanwings Flight 9525's cabin and smashed the plane into the French Alps on Tuesday, killing all 150 on board, investigators said. The co-pilot, Andreas Lubitz, left no suicide note, but German prosecutors said they found torn-up doctor's notes excusing him from work while searching his home.
