FDA Proposes First Regulations for E-Cigarettes

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is proposing Thursday extending its regulatory authority over e-cigarettes, flavored cigars and nicotine gels. The rule would immediately make e-cigarettes off-limits to kids under 18 and would require makers to disclose to the agency what they contain. However, the FDA did not propose — for now — limiting Internet sales or television advertising. An FDA commissioner said the rules won't take effect for awhile and for now it's, "the wild, wild West."
