12-Year-Old Boy Shot to Death in Quincy

The boy was allegedly waiting for his mother to pick him up from a friend's house when the shooting occurred

A 12-year-old boy was shot to death in Quincy early Saturday morning.

Police identified the victim as Rayshone D. Humphrey Jr. He was killed at about 1 a.m.

Police Chief Rob Copley told the Quincy Herald-Whig that the boy's death is being investigated as a homicide and that investigators "do not believe this to be a random crime."

The victim's brother told the newspaper that Humphrey was waiting at a friend's house for his mother to pick him up when the shooting occurred.

The newspaper reports that the victim was a seventh-grader at Quincy Junior High School.
