Woman Killed in Police-Involved Shooting

A Virginia woman died after a police-involved shooting Thursday morning.

Shots were fired when a Culpeper police officer responded to a suspicious person call in the 300 block of North East Street. The woman, who was in a Jeep, got into an altercation with the officer, according to Virginia State Police.

The woman has been identified as 54-year-old Patricia Cook.

The officer, a five-year veteran, sustained minor injuries and has been placed on administrative leave.
