Fairfax County rescue workers discovered a body in a burning Falls Church home Monday morning. Fire and rescue units arrived at 6608 Orland Street around 4:05 a.m. and found the home so engulfed in flames that they couldn't go inside.
They brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes.
The second floor collapsed inside the home, and firefighters said they found hoarding conditions inside.
Both police and fire authorities are investigating. The victim's name will not be released until next of kin is notified.
The home is a complete loss. An adjacent house sustained minor exterior fire damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
