Work to Begin on Part of Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

The National Park Service says a small part of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool will be drained for reconstruction of the basin.

The work, set to begin Sept. 8, will affect about 30 feet of the pool.

The project will repair damage caused by work at the World War II Memorial in 2013.

Visitors will be able to use the elm walk along both sides of the pool. The north/south walkway between the reflecting pool and the World War II Memorial will be closed.

The project is expected to take about nine months.
