Woman Struck on River Road in Bethesda

A 76-year-old West Virginia woman was struck by a car and killed while crossing a busy four-lane road in a residential section of Bethesda, Md., police said.

Nancy Laulis was not in a crosswalk when she was hit on River Road near Little Falls Parkway at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Montgomery County police said. The driver who struck her remained at the scene.

Laulis was taken to Suburban Hospital, where she died.
