A woman has life-threatening injuries after a large tree branch fell down and struck her in Rockville, Maryland, fire officials said.
The woman was walking through a wooded area behind the Cabin John Shopping Center at 7955 Tuckerman Lane about 3 p.m. Saturday.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said strong winds caused the branch to fall and hit her. The woman has not been identified.
There were reports of fallen branches and brush fires throughout the D.C. area Saturday due to strong winds. The region is under a wind advisory until midnight Sunday.
