Woman Stabs Sleeping Man in Hospital Waiting Room

Police say the attack appears to be random.

A D.C. woman is facing an assault charge after police say she stabbed a sleeping man in the head in the waiting room of a Northeast Washington hospital Tuesday morning.

Police say Janet Latoya Daniels was checked into Providence Hospital for a drug problem and was waiting to see a doctor. After visiting the restroom, Daniels allegedly stabbed a man who was sleeping in a waiting room chair.

Witnesses told police that Daniels missed the victim the first time, but struck him in the left cheek with her second strike. The hospital's security guards were able to stop her from delivering a third strike, court documents state.

Police say the attack appears to be random.

Daniels has been charged with assault with intent to kill.
