A woman was stabbed multiple times by a would-be robber in Silver Spring, Maryland, Monday evening.
Officers were called to the Forest Park Apartments in the 8200 block of Piney Branch Road just before 8 p.m.
Police say the woman was walking in the area when she was approached by a man who demanded money. When she refused, the man became violent, knocking her to the ground and stabbing her multiple times.
A passerby saw the attack and called police, but the suspect got away.
The victim was gravely injured, but authorities said she has stabilized and is expected to survive. She is in stable condition at a local hospital.
