Men With Stun Gun Sexually Assault Woman in Northeast D.C. Thanksgiving Morning

Crime up in neighborhood

Two men with a stun gun robbed and sexually assaulted a woman early Thanksgiving morning, according to D.C. police.

The woman was attacked between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. in the 300 block of 49th Street NE near Kelly Miller Middle School, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

Police arrested 31-year-old Paul Xavier Williams of Northeast D.C. within hours. He is charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, robbery and first-degree sexual assault.

It wasn’t Williams’ first arrest this week. Just blocks away Monday, he was arrested and charged with assault and theft. He was released by a D.C. Superior Court judge pending a court date next week.

Friday he was ordered held without bond because the most recent charge was a violent felony.

Now police want the public’s help identifying and locating the second man involved. He’s described as a clean shaven black male with a dark complexion and a muscular build. He’s said to be about 5-feet-8-inches or 5-feet-9 inches tall. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a black coat and armed with a stun gun.

In the past year there have been dozens of violent crimes in this neighborhood just off East Capitol Street. Police data for crimes within a 1,000-foot radius of the middle school show five sexual assaults, 13 robberies and 10 more robberies involving a gun. In the past year, 42 violent crimes were reported, and if you add non-violent crimes like burglaries and stolen cars, the number almost doubles: 82 total crimes within a few blocks of this school.
