A baby is in foster care, its mother in detox, after several people reported seeing an apparently intoxicated woman carrying the child in a diaper bag in Damascus, Md.
Witnesses reported seeing the baby’s arms and legs sticking out of the bag about 9:30 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 9800 block of Bethesda Church Road. Its 30-year-old mother appeared to be drunk and under the influence of drugs.
One witness took possession of the bag and took it inside a rental office where she called Montgomery County police. The child was not left in the office by its mother as originally reported.
Child Protective Services responded.
The woman, who is at an area hospital, has not been charged.
