Woman Killed In Northeast Car Crash

D.C. Police are investigating a fatal car accident that took place in Northeast early Saturday morning.

Investigators say that a 2003 Hyundai was traveling south on Division Avenue, Northeast when it veered off the road and struck a light pole located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Division Avenue and Ames Street, Northeast at around 1:35 a.m.

After hitting the pole, investigators say the car also hit a brick retaining wall.

The female passenger in the car, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver, also a woman, was taken to a local hospital and listed in critical condition.

A cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
