Police Investigating Deadly Double Shooting

Police: Shooting stemmed from "domestic situation"

UPDATE: Police located Michael Stewart in the Landover area Monday and took him into custody.

Police in Prince George's County are investigating a shooting that left a woman dead and another injured in Capitol Heights, Md., early Sunday morning.

The shooting stemmed from an argument at Irving's Night Club between an employee, 25-year-old Brittany Sade McKinley, and her ex-boyfriend, 33-year-old Michael Jerome Stewart, of Upper Marlboro, authorities said. Security kicked McKinley out of the club, and he later went to McKinley's home in the 4600 block of Heath Street. When McKinley and a 23-year-old woman arrived before 6:15 a.m., Stewart opened the car door and shot them, police said.

The victims drove about five miles away from the shooting to a safe area of Central Avenue before calling police, police said.

McKinley was pronounced dead at the scene. The 23-year-old woman suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her hand and was taken to a local hospital.

Police are searching for Stewart.
