Anne Arundel County fire officials say a woman died in a house fire in the Millersville area.

The fire department says flames broke out around 10 a.m. Sunday at the two-story home in the 3400 block of Newport Avenue in the Arundel on the Bay community. The fire went to two alarms and took about 40 minutes to extinguish. Firefighters found a female resident inside the house, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not yet confirmed the woman's identity.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. It was the second fatal fire in Anne Arundel County in the span of a week. On July 1, a Gambrills woman died in a fire in a house on Farrara Drive in the Community of Chapelgate.

Sunday's fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damages, according to investigators.
