A woman was struck and killed by a train in the Ballston Metro station around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Metro said the woman appeared to have jumped intentionally.

Orange Line service was suspended for several hours between Clarendon and East Falls Church. Trains also briefly single-tracked through the area, but are now operating on both tracks, Metro said Monday afternoon.

The Ballston Metro station reopened around 3 p.m.

Metro warned that travelers in the area may face residual delays.
