A woman has died after she was hit by a minivan Saturday morning on H Street NE, D.C. police say.
The pedestrian was crossing H Street when the minivan hit her at 10th Street, near the Ben's Chili Bowl restaurant. First-responders were called about 11:10 a.m., police said.
She later was pronounced dead. Police did not immediately release her name.
A pair of women's shoes remained under the minivan as police investigated.
One witness told News4 the victim is a woman in her 60s who lives in the area. The witness said he saw at least two people run from the car after the crash.
D.C. police did not immediately have information on whether the driver remained on the scene.
H Street was closed in both directions between 8th Street and 11th Street as police investigated. DC Streetcar service was suspended and had resumed by 4 p.m., officials said.
