Woman Hit, Killed by Truck in Northwest D.C. Identified

Police have identified the female pedestrian who died after being hit by the truck driver the evening of Thursday, June 11 near the U.S. Naval Observatory.

Margaret "Peggy" Ruth Dickie, 79, was fatally injured when she was struck by a Peapod delivery truck about 6:10 p.m. near Wisconsin Avenue and Calvert Street NW.

Dickie was heading north on Calvert Street NW when she was hit by the driver making a right turn from 37th Street NW, to turn west, police said in an update Tuesday. 

The driver remained on the scene and the crash remains under investigation, police said. 

The 3700 block of Calvert Street NW and 2800 block of 37th Street NW were closed after Dickie was hit.

Another female pedestrian, Crucita Reynoso, 58, was killed in Montgomery County the same day. She was struck by a school bus.
