A Woodbridge, Va., woman was struck and killed while walking her dog Saturday morning.

She has been identified as Zenaida Ines Jimenez, 58.

Authorities say Jimenez was walking her dog on the sidewalk near the intersection of Old Bridge Road and Clipper Drive in Woodbridge shortly before 9:40 a.m. Saturday when the driver of a 1998 BMW apparently lost control of his car and ran onto the sidewalk.

Jimenez was transported to an area hospital, where she died shortly after.

The driver of the BMW, a 21-year-old Woodbridge man, remained on the scene.

Authorities don't believe speed, alcohol or drug use were factors in the crash. No charges have been filed at this time, they said.

The investigation continues.

Jimenez's dog was not injured and was released to family members.
