Woman Dead After Apartment Fire in Prince George’s

A woman died after an apartment fire in Cheverly, Md., according to Prince George’s County fire.

Firefighters went to Landover Road about 4:30 p.m. Monday for a report of a smoke alarm sounding.

Firefighters extinguished a small blaze and found an unconscious woman. She was pronounced dead at a local trauma center.

Seven people were displaced by the fire. Damage was estimated at between $5,000 and $10,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The woman's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
