A woman and a child were rescued from a burning apartment building in northwest Washington early Saturday morning.
The D.C. Fire and EMS Department said the fire broke out around 7 a.m. in the 3100 block of Sherman Avenue, NW. Crews on the scene were able to safely remove a woman and child from a second floor apartment.
One firefighter suffered a shoulder injury during the incident. The woman and child were taken to the hospital, but there is no word on their conditions.
Investigators will be working to determine a cause of the fire.
