Woman Charged With Fracturing Baby's Skull Using a Baby Bottle

A Maryland woman faces child abuse charges after she allegedly fractured the skull of her 3-month-old son with a baby bottle.

Nicole Denette Sullivan, 26, faces several charges including first-degree abuse of a child resulting in severe physical injury, first-degree assault and reckless endangerment, The Herald Mail reported.

The charging documents say a Hagerstown, Maryland police investigator went to a hospital on July 11 for a report of an infant being treated for skull fractures and a broken arm.

After the baby was taken to the Children's National Medical Center in D.C., doctors determined the injuries were not accidental, the documents said.

Sullivan told police that she struck the baby on the head with an empty baby bottle on June 30 because he would not stop crying, according to the charging documents.

A bond-review hearing was held Friday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 20, records obtained by The Herald Mail said.
