A Woodbridge, Virginia, woman is facing a strangulation charge after police say she choked an 11-year-old girl with a belt early Wednesday morning.
Officers were called to the 15300 block of Gunsmith Terrace at 1:30 a.m. According to police, 37-year-old Demetria Michelle Bowles choked the girl with a belt following a verbal altercation.
After the belt broke, the victim ran to a bedroom and called a family member who called 911.
Police say Bowles and the victim are known acquaintances.
Minor injuries were reported.
Bowles was arrested at the scene. She is being held without bond.
