Woman Arrested After Fatal Va. Wreck

Woman, dog killed in Manassas accident

A 52-year-old Warrenton woman is under arrest after allegedly causing an accident that killed a woman and a dog Saturday night in Manassas.

Lori Love Shipe, also known as Lori Lynn Love (pictured below), was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and aggravated involuntary manslaughter after the accident, which took place at around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dumfries Road and Brentsville Road.

Investigators say that Shipe was at the wheel of a Lexus RX300 heading north on Dumfries Road when she ran a red light and struck a Ford Focus that was turning onto Dumfries Road from the eastbound lanes of the Prince William Parkway. The momentum of the crash carried the focus into a  Volkswagen Jetta that was turning onto the southbound to the westbound lanes of the Prince William Parkway.

The passenger in the Focus, 57-year-old Judith Ann Meyer of Powhatan, was pronounced dead of her injuries at a local hospital. The 58-year-old driver of the Focus, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. A family dog, riding in the Focus, died while being taken to a local animal hospital.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
