Woman Abducted, Carjacked at Gunpoint Near Eastern Market

A woman abducted at gunpoint and carjacked earlier this week spoke exclusively to News4's Shomari Stone.

The woman was walking home Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of G Street SE.

"He passed me and said, 'Good evening,'" the victim said. "And when I got to my front steps to go into my house, he was behind me with a gun."

The man demanded her money and jewelry. She gave him everything she had, but he then forced her inside her car and told her to drive to an ATM in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE.

"He told me not to look at him. He [said he] would kill me if I looked at him," she said.

He forced her to pull over at 650 Pennsylvania Avenue at a PNC Bank. After she withdrew cash from an ATM, the suspect let her go, taking her car with him. Police say he later got into a car crash, but was able to get away with cash and more than $1,000 in jewelry.

The woman was not physically hurt, but the incident left her shaken up.

Police described the man as black with medium to dark complexion in his early to mid-30s with a slim build and standing 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9. He was dressed in all brown clothing.

Anyone with information about the man or the incident should call police at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411.
