94-Year-Old Woman Dies After Being Hit by Car on Georgia Avenue

Driver cited by police

A 94-year-old woman died after being struck by a car Tuesday in Northwest D.C.

The accident happened Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the 2800 block of Georgia Avenue NW. Aidah Sabir-Jenkins, 94, of the District, was in the crosswalk when she was hit by a 2001 Dodge Ram as the driver was making a right turn onto Harvard Street NW.

Sabir-Jenkins was admitted to the hospital in critical condition and later died of her injuries.

The driver stayed on the scene and was cited by police. Police did not publicly identify the driver, but are continuing to investigate the crash.
