Wolf Wants Toll Changes for Dulles Greenway

Drivers who think tolls are too high on the Dulles Greenway in Loudoun County, Va., may have a new ally in Rep. Frank Wolf.

Wolf (R-Va.) has written a letter to state officials expressing frustration that the Greenway refuses to implement distance pricing on the 14-mile highway.

During rush hour, westbound commuters pay $4.50 when they enter from the Greenway's main toll plaza, even if they only drive a short segment of the road. Similarly, eastbound drivers who exit at the toll plaza pay $4.50 no matter where they got on the highway.

LoudounTimes.com reported the Greenway, a privately-owned road, is considered one of the most expensive toll roads in the country, with prices that have climbed by 400 percent since it opened 15 years ago.

The Greenway's owners said the highway is not set up for distance pricing.
