Window Blown Out in Virginia Road Rage Incident With Baby in Backseat

A man's car window was blown out during a road rage incident in Virginia Thursday afternoon while he had his 4-month-old daughter with him.

The driver of a Hyundai told police he was driving home on the Beltway with his daughter in the backseat when the driver of a white SUV started driving aggressively next to him on the Inner Loop near National Harbor.

The driver of the SUV repeatedly cut the Hyundai off, according to Franklin Flores, who went to the victim's aid after the incident.

The driver of the Hyundai said he tried to change lanes to create some space and exchanged words with the driver of the SUV, who cursed at him. The driver of the Hyundai said he asked the other driver to back off, explaining he had a baby on board.

At one point, the driver of the SUV raised a dark-colored object, and the driver's side window of the Hyundai shattered.

"He tried to get past him and out of the corner of his eye he saw something get lifted up and the window shattered and he got really scared," Flores said.

Police do not know what shattered the window.

“It could be a BB gun, a pellet gun or an actual firearm,” said Dan Gotthardt of Fairfax County Police.

The driver of the Hyundai suffered a minor hand injury. He exited at Braddock Road and pulled into a gas station, where he called police. He was treated on the scene by medical personnel.

The little girl wasn't hurt.

Fairfax County Police found the driver of the SUV at a restaurant in Vienna and questioned him. No weapon was found.
