WASHINGTON -- Authorities determined a suspicious white powder found on an envelope at NASA headquarters is not harmful.

Hazmat teams were sent to NASA headquarters in northwest Washington Wednesday afternoon.  D.C. Fire Department spokesman Pete Piringer said.

The immediate area was evacuated, but not the entire building, Piringer said. There were no threats associated with the incident, and no injuries or illnesses were reported.
