Court Documents: Wheaton Assaults Suspect Bought New Pants During Manhunt

A 20-year-old man charged in three different sex assault incidents and the robbery of a cab driver in Wheaton, Maryland, bought a new pair of pants apparently to change his appearance during the manhunt for him Thursday afternoon, according to court documents.

Christian A. Jordan continued to wear the Helly Hansen jacket he wore in each alleged attack, though, which helped police identify him.

A judge ordered Jordan held on $500,000 bond Monday. He faces seven charges relating to a series of recent robberies and sex assaults, including at the Wheaton Metro parking garage.

He was arrested near the Westfield Wheaton mall's JC Penney about 5 p.m. Thursday after a woman in a neighborhood behind the Wheaton mall reported that she was assaulted and almost kidnapped. She positively identified Jordan as the suspect.

Police had a picture of Jordan from a Metro surveilance camera but did not release it to the public because they weren't 100 percent it was the right person, according to court records.

The night of Dec. 8, a 33-year-old woman was opening the door of her vehicle in the Wheaton Metro garage when a man demanded she follow him to a pedestrian bridge and perform a sex act. When she refused, he fled the scene.

Around 11 p.m. Wednesday, a 37-year-old woman was walking in the garage when a man demanded that she perform a sex act near a pedestrian bridge. She complied. The assault was interrupted when the assailant heard another person walking up the garage stairs.

About 15 minutes later, Jordan entered a cab at the Wheaton Metro station and asked to be driven toward Plyers Mill Road, police said. He then demanded the driver's money and fled with cash.

In each of these crimes, a handgun was displayed. According to court records, it was a fake.

Jordan is charged with two counts of first-degree sex offense, three counts of armed robbery and three counts of kidnapping. Police say Jordan admitted to the crimes. He has a court date in early January.

Authorities believe a Dec. 2 incident may also be related. In that incident, a woman reported seeing a man with a gun in the Wheaton mall garage.

Jordan has no prior criminal history.
