What's Old Will Soon Be New Again: Colvin Run Mill

It’ll be back to the old grind at a popular historic attraction in Great Falls, Va. Colvin Run Mill is being restored to a fully-functioning mill.

The Fairfax County Park Authority is using $300,000 from a bond referendum and a $75,000 grant from a partnership between American Express and the National Trust.

The mill first opened in the early 1800s. It still grinds grains, but the age of the equipment kept if from working completely in recent decades.

Thousands of school children visit the site each year. The mill sells the products it makes in its gift shop and to local restaurants that specialize in local and natural foods.

More on that part of the story can be discovered at the Fairfax Times.
