Steve Harvey quizzed President Obama on "family, fatherhood and his plans for the holidays" in a one-on-one interview at the White House Friday.

Harvey said he wanted to stay away from politics and get to more personal topics in what he called a "man on man" interview. He spoke about the interview to News4's Pat Lawson Muse immediately after the White House visit.

"The greatest moment in that interview for me was he was talking about his grandmother, who he misses so," Harvey said. "She passed in her eighties and my mom passed in her eighties.

"And I said to the president, 'I heard a rumor that your mother and my mother had met, and they are on the front row watching us right now. And that was a pretty cool moment."

The full interview will air on NBC4 on Friday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m.

Harvey said he asked the president about gifts he plans to give this holiday season, family and how he feels about his daughters dating.

"He has developed some theories about dating," Harvey told Muse. "I was pretty proud of my president on that one."

And the selfie that Obama famously shot with the Danish and British prime ministers at the memorial in South Africa for Nelson Mandela? "I thought it was perfectly fine," Harvey told Muse. "So what? It was a celebration of life."

As for Michelle Obama's expression in the picture? Harvey said one short moment couldn't capture what the First Lady was really feeling."

    "I've met her. I don't know a sweeter person, " Harvey said.

Harvey also said when he visits the District, he takes a trip to the Florida Grill near Howard University. "I love D.C.," he said.
