Several Red and Blue Line stations affected

    Three redline states closed over the weekend due to track work.

    Weekend track work is back, and we’ve got some advisories you should take note of before hopping (or hoping, for that matter) on the Metro this weekend if you'll be on the Red or Blue lines.

    All track work will begin Friday at 10 p.m. and continue through Sunday.

    Buses will replace Red Line trains between the Rhode Island Avenue and Silver Spring stations. The following stations will be closed:

    • Takoma
    • Fort Totten (only the Red Line platform closed; Yellow/Green open for service)
    • Brookland

    Trains will operate every 10 minutes Saturday and Sunday during daytime hours between Shady Grove and Rhode Island Avenue, and between Glenmont and Silver Spring.

    Customers traveling through this work zone using shuttle buses should add 25-30 minutes of additional travel time to their plans.

    On Friday night, the last trains to travel through the Red Line work zone will be:

    • 8:57 p.m. from Shady Grove to Glenmont.
    • 9:37 p.m. from Glenmont to Shady Grove.

    On Friday and Saturday nights:

    • The last train from Glenmont to Silver Spring leaves at 1:57 a.m.
    • The last train from Silver Spring to Glenmont leaves at 4:04 a.m.
    • The last train from Rhode Island Avenue to Shady Grove leaves at 2:56 a.m. 
    • The last train from Shady Grove to Rhode Island Avenue leaves at 2:37 a.m.

    On Sunday night:

    • The last train from Glenmont to Silver Spring leaves at 10:57 p.m.
    • The last train from Silver Spring to Glenmont leaves at 1:04 a.m.
    • The last train from Rhode Island Avenue to Shady Grove leaves at 11:56 p.m.
    • The last train from Shady Grove to Rhode Island Avenue leaves at 11:37 p.m.

    The Blue Line will replace trains with shuttle buses between the Rosslyn and Pentagon Metro stations. The shuttle buses will operate to and from the Pentagon only. Metro asks customers traveling through this work zone to add 15 minutes to their travel time.

    On Friday night, the last trains to travel through the Blue Line work zone will be:

    • 9:32 p.m. from Franconia-Springfield to Largo Town Center.
    • 9:15 p.m. from Largo Town Center to Franconia-Springfield.

    On Friday and Saturday nights:

    • The last train from Franconia-Springfield to Mt Vernon Square leaves at 2:40 a.m.
    • The last train from Mt Vernon Square to Franconia-Springfield leaves at 3:30 a.m.
    • The last train from Rosslyn to Largo Town Center leaves at 2:57 a.m.
    • The last train from Largo Town Center to Rosslyn leaves at 2:24 a.m.

    On Sunday night:

    • The last train from Franconia-Springfield to Mt. Vernon Square leaves at 11:07 p.m.
    • The last train from Mt Vernon Square to Franconia-Springfield leaves at 12:30 a.m.
    • The last train from Rosslyn to Largo Town Center leaves at 11:57 p.m.
    • The last train from Largo Town Center to Rosslyn will depart at 11:24 p.m.

    The Orange Line will single track between East Falls Church and West Falls Church.
