Website Lets Residents Grade D.C.

Mayor Gray launches “Grade DC” website

Grades aren’t just for school anymore. D.C. residents can now give the District grades from A to F.

Mayor Vincent Gray unveiled the website Wednesday. In addition to grading, residents can use the site, Twitter and Facebook to submit comments about city agencies. The Department of Transportation, Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Public Works, Department of Parks and Recreation, and Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs are currently the only participants.

The website reports the data will be collected and released to the public July 11.

Mayor Gray said he hopes the comments help improve agency operations and allow for more government transparency.

The program is still in its pilot phase. If everything goes well, 10 additional agencies will be added in the fall.
