Water Restrictions Looming for 5 Va. Localities

Mandatory water restrictions are looming for five central Virginia localities due to low water levels in Lake Chesdin.

Media outlets report that the Appomattox River Water Authority announced Thursday that the restrictions will go into effect Aug. 23.

Earlier this week, the state issued a drought warning for the Appomattox River Basin due to low rainfall and extreme heat.

Voluntary restrictions have been in effect since June in Chesterfield, Dinwiddie and Prince George counties, and the cities of Colonial Heights and Petersburg.
