A water main break in northeast Washington could have a big impact on the Monday morning commute.
Officials say it will take six to eight hours to repair the 12-inch water main located on Benning Road NE between Bladensburg Road NE and 17th Street NE.
Right now, northbound lanes of Bladensburg Road NE and westbound lanes of Benning Road are closed.
Crews have stopped the water from flowing in the area, but they are concerned that the roadway has been undermined. Only businesses in the nearby Hechinger Plaza have been affected by the water outage. No residents in the area have been impacted.
Significant delays are expected as commuters hit the road.
