Water Main Break Leaves 20 Hyattsville Residents Without Water

Twenty Hyattsville residents lost water when a water main broke overnight.

The 12-inch main was repaired and went back into service about noon, WSSC said, but one lane of northbound traffic on Adelphi Road at Belcrest Road remained closed Friday afternoon, as it will take several hours to repave.

One lane of northbound traffic is getting by. No southbound lanes are affected.

Earlier this week, WSSC crews began work on a water main that threatened to shut off water to tens of thousands of Prince George's County residents. Fortunately, the ingenuity of two workers helped the utility avert that crisis and instead continue with imposed water restrictions. Repairs to the 54-inch water main neared completion Thursday.
